Despite rising COVID-19 cases, Living Water Adopt-A-Child (LWAAC) continues to share the Gospel and serve the poorest of the poor throughout Albania. Our churches have been open since late spring and almost all evangelism activities have resumed with social distancing measures in place. Hosting events at churches has helped us streamline food parcel distributions and allowed us to spend more time conducting home visits while our feeding programs remain closed due to current health and safety concerns.

Fighting Hunger Across Albania

The Lord continues to guide our ministry and show us creative ways to make an impact during this crisis. When churches re-opened their doors earlier this summer, it created a new opportunity for us to distribute food parcels in-person following church events. Each parcel contains enough sugar, flour, rice, detergent, and other food and hygiene items to last families at least one week.

In August, we delivered over a thousand parcels to Albanian children in need. More than 200 of these meals went towards children in Dunica, Kalivac, and Trebinje who don’t have access to our feeding programs. Our team spent the majority of August working to close this gap by starting a new program in Dunica. Early efforts have already registered nearly 20 children ages 3-11.

Joy, Celebration, & Baptisms

“I never thought the day would come that the church would worry about not filling her space – not inviting everyone, not publicly, solemnly proclaiming the decisions to follow Christ. But due to regulations, we had to really calculate the number of people we could have at our recent baptisms. But I know that still, it is a gift. Three months ago when Pastor Lefter told me that we had to start the Baptism classes, I told him ‘yes’, but I was not sure it would happen. But by the grace of God, we saw 6 out of 9 people registered in our class have the chance to publicly confess their faith by immersion in the water. What A beautiful day. What a beautiful moment!”

Home Visits Resume in Villages

Our LWAAC missionaries have restarted routine home visits to poor villages across the country.

“In the villages, I continue with home visits – visiting families and widows. It is good to spend time with them, to share about God, and to bless them with something they need … like a pair of new reading glasses, with the right number. This lady was very happy about a knitted baby blanket for her great-grandson.”
