Despite intensifying conditions related to the COVID-19 pandemic in Guatemala, Living Water Adopt-A-Child (LWAAC) continues to provide life-sustaining food, medical and dental care, and pastoral support during these uncertain times. Hundreds of new COVID-19 cases are flooding the already weak healthcare system resulting in a nationwide crisis. Please continue to pray for all of the men, women, and children in the impoverished villages we serve.

Feeding the Hungry

Thanks to the generosity of our supporters, we continue to go door-to-door providing sponsored children and their families with groceries, other essential resources, and Biblical encouragement.

Each food parcel we deliver contains soap, rice, beans, noodles, sugar, oil, milk, coffee, and a vitamin drink for children.

We expect to continue individual deliveries up to the start of the new year. Guatemalan schools are set to return to face-to-face instruction in January and it’s unlikely that our feeding program will open any sooner due to the current health and safety concerns.

Sharing the Gospel

Most of our ministry operations continue to operate online due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Ministry staff host regular online church services and work alongside elders in the community to provide pastoral support to families in need.

Letters to Sponsored Children

Children love to receive letters from their sponsor! Despite these uncertain times, sponsored children eagerly wait for their name to be called when mail is delivered. Many of our sponsors have taken time out of their day to send some words of encouragement and prayers to their sponsored child. Their notes make our sponsored children feel loved and important. Visit our Current Sponsors webpage to learn how you can send your sponsored child a card, letter, or gift.

A Note on Gifts to Sponsored Children

Every time you contribute funds towards a gift for your sponsored child, our staff takes a picture of what the child receives and sends you a picture of the gift accompanied by a letter of thanks. At this time, our staff are only able to deliver the gifts and letters but cannot take pictures of children due to social distancing guidelines. To be clear, this letter and the photograph is not printed and mailed using gift funds; this is a separate official supplies ministry expense. Every dollar that you contribute towards your sponsored child goes directly to them.

LWAAC staff and the board of directors aim to promote transparency and accountability at all times, especially when it pertains to the wise stewardship of donated funds.

Our ministry is grateful that the Lord is revealing new ways to show the people of Guatemala the love of Christ throughout this pandemic. We view this situation as an opportunity for us to innovate how we serve as the hands of feet of Jesus. Our staff is overwhelmed by all of the unique ways we’ve been able to touch the families we are blessed to serve.

Thank you to everyone who has sent financial support of any kind during the Covid-19 crisis. It’s because of you that many who are suffering the most have received the essential resources, care, and support they’ve needed to endure this pandemic.
