The situation in Guatemala is critical at the moment. The President of Guatemala has just declared a State of Calamity/Emergency due to Covid-19. Hospitals are overwhelmed with the numbers of Covid patients requiring treatment.
Presently, the numbers are so high that most public hospitals are turning patients away.
Patients with resources can then turn to private hospitals. However, for the majority of the population that Living Water Adopt-A-Child serves, this is not an option. Our medical clinics are open and we are helping as best we can.
The current State of Emergency is scheduled to run through September 11th. Our hope is that the situation will improve and allow us to reopen our feeding programs and churches. However, in the meantime our teams are busy.
The crisis is real. The border crisis is real. The desperation of the people is real.
Many of the people from the villages we serve have fled to Mexico on their way to the U.S. Public schools are closed and unemployment is at very high levels.
Our dedicated staff is active and we are making a difference. While it is evident that these crises are real, so is God’s love. We are doing everything possible to bring relief to as many families as we can. The food distributions are impacting entire families, not only the children. As you can see, we are providing food and ministering the love of God. Yes, along the roadways, in the fields, communities, and empty schools, we are distributing food, praying and proclaiming the Gospel of our Lord Jesus!
We ask that you please join us in prayer for our ministry work and the families we serve. Thank you to all of our faithful supporters!
