At this time of year, it’s my humble privilege to share my heart with our supporters. Your continuous support means the world to us at Living Water Adopt-A-Child.
Honestly, the country of Guatemala truly struggled this year. While we wanted to do ministry as usual — which used to include weekly church gatherings and in-person hot meals for hundreds — we had to make some drastic changes to our strategies. Yet, God has used those changes mightily!
We’re now taking church and sponsorship to the people. We’re going into the streets and neighborhoods and villages. Although we’re honored to do humanitarian work by giving out food, we go far beyond that through prayer and evangelism. In short, we’re taking the Gospel out, and the numbers of people impacted by our ministry are very encouraging.
Thousands of miles away, the change in Albania has astounded me. We now serve about 900 children in our sponsorship programs there. Most of them come from a Suni Muslim home, as Christianity represents under 1% of the population. Nevertheless, we birthed a new church there, and it’s thriving under dynamic moves of the Spirit.
Additionally, we rejoice in the following victories:
- Feeding programs expanding: In Guatemala, we’re feeding sponsored children and their families with our food parcel distributions. In Albania, we added three new feeding centers. Although the COVID-19 pandemic has prevented us from serving hot meals, we have hopes to resume normal feeding program operations during the first quarter of 2022.
- Medical clinics serving: When public hospitals were overrun with COVID-19 patients and the Guatemalan government declared a state of calamity, our clinics stepped up to help.
- The Gospel thriving & churches expanding: With these newfound ministry methods, people we never would’ve reached before are now hearing and embracing the Good News of Jesus. In fact, we are actively searching for land to build a new church and feeding program in Chichicastenango, Guatemala.
Our longstanding commitment to Christmas celebrations also continues. Every registered child, single mother and widow, whether sponsored or not, will be blessed with a gift. In Guatemala this number approaches 7,000 and over 1,000 in Albania.
With God’s grace and your partnership, we are His witnesses in the mountains of Quiché and the dirt roads of Albania. For me, these places are “the ends of the earth” described in Acts 1:8.
