The ongoing war in Ukraine has resulted in significant increases in fuel prices across Europe, including Albania. This has led to soaring prices for food and other essentials. In June 2022, food costs in Albania increased by 13 percent, year-over-year. Inflation has even sparked protests, with demonstrators petitioning the government to get involved.
The Albanian people need our help now more than ever. Every child registered in our program receives a box of food every 4-6 weeks, and it’s amazing what can be packed into each box! They are jam-packed with essentials to help provide home-cooked meals for the whole family, including cooking oil, canned tomatoes, pasta, flour, rice and sugar.
Before the pandemic, these boxes cost us roughly $10 each to buy, fill and deliver. Now, with global prices surging, they cost just over $13 each. Given that we provide approximately 1,000 boxes each month, a substantial amount of resources are required to support this crucial ministry.
We are grateful for every extra dollar received from our supporters to enable us to continue our work with caring for “the least of the these” in Albania. All that we do is done in the name of Jesus.
