A team of 13 people from Northridge Church in Pensacola, Florida recently joined Living Water Adopt A Child (LWAAC) in Guatemala for a week of ministry and service. We are always blessed by those who donate their time through mission trips, and this was no exception!

The team assisted with our annual Christmas celebration, where we provided a special meal for more than 750 children, along with fun diversions like face painting and balloon animals. We presented the gospel message through skits and music, and afterward gave out gifts to each child.

The week included three church services where the Holy Spirit’s presence was evident and many Guatemalans were visibly moved by His touch. The Northridge team also joined us for the very first worship service on the site in Chulumal that is being developed for our 10th feeding program. Together we walked the property and prayed for God’s blessing over the program and the people whom we will serve.

Here is what team members had to say about their experience:

  • “God was everywhere. He was literally everywhere.”
  • “To see these kids, it lights up your life. Then you meet their families, and you see how humble these people are. They’re such great people.”
  • “We’re God’s family—no matter how far away we are. No matter the distance, no matter the difference in language, we are one family in Christ and we always will be.”
  • “I can assure you, [LWAAC] is a vibrant and vital organization that is bringing the joy of Jesus Christ to many people in Guatemala and offering them the abundant life that comes through a relationship with Him.”
  • “I never could have imagined what the Holy Spirit was going to do—and I had pretty high expectations—but He just went above and beyond.”
  • “When Holy Spirit shows up, all you have to do is get out of the way, and His work and will is done. That’s what I learned on this trip.”

Northridge Church not only gave the precious gift of their time; they also donated a laptop, a guitar and $15,000 raised through a church bake sale! What a tremendous blessing to our ministry in Guatemala. We are thankful to them and the many other churches who generously support the work of LWAAC.
