Our team recently took a trip to Albania and was reminded of the deep need for the hope of Christ in this beautiful yet spiritually impoverished nation. Living Water Adopt-A-Child is passionate about bringing true, gospel hope to the precious people in Albania through child sponsorships, feeding programs, widow care and more.
Spiritual Climate of Albania
According to data collected by The Association of Religion Data Archives in 2020, Albania is predominantly Muslim, with around 59% of the population identifying as such. Protestant Christians, however, represent less than 1% of the population, making it one of the most spiritually underserved nations in Europe. Of that 1%, approximately 10% are connected to Living Water Adopt-A-Child in some way.
There is a tremendous challenge and yet an incredible opportunity to spread the hope of Jesus Christ in this region.
Our Gospel-Centered Work
Currently, we are blessed to serve over 900 children across 10 feeding programs in Albania. We have been able to build up and support three churches along with a medical and dental clinic, all with the hope of meeting the very real physical and spiritual needs of those we serve. Sponsored children and women in need benefit from nutritious meals, essential medical care, youth camps and churches where they are introduced to the Gospel. Additionally, we are able to distribute food parcels to entire communities that are in need and care for widows and vulnerable women, extending Christ’s love to those who need it most.
