Here at Living Water Adopt-a-Child, we believe that children give us a glimpse into the Kingdom. They show us how to have faith, trust in the Lord’s providence, and rely upon Him for our every need. Jesus Himself welcomed the little children to come to Him because He saw their God-ordained value and dignity.

Much of our ministry at LWAAC is centered around aiding children, whether physically through food and clean water, spiritually through the hope of the gospel, or relationally through communication with sponsors.

When you sponsor a child, you are forming a relationship that transcends all barriers and distance. This relationship can impact not just the child’s life but your life as well. The relationship between sponsors and children is one of the most precious and life-changing experiences you can have.

Writing to Your Child

Did you know when you sponsor a child that you also have the opportunity of keeping up regular correspondence with your child? To boys and girls in Guatemala and Albania, your letters are both a balm and source of hope. Children eagerly look forward to letters from their sponsors and consider their sponsors like dear friends.

It’s a reminder that it is the small things which often yield a weighty Kingdom impact. Though it only takes a few minutes to write a note, it means the world to the child who receives it.

“Gracious words are like a honeycomb, sweetness to the soul and health to the body.” (Proverbs 16:24, ESV)

Supporting Your Child

Sponsorship makes it possible for your child to receive consistent hot meals, clean water, and vital medical and dental care access. For many, this is their first source of real stability and security in life. Poverty is rampant throughout Guatemala, with 68% of all children living below the poverty line.

Not only do they lack basic essentials like food and water, but many children are without parents and living as orphans. According to Orphan Outreach, there are more than 370,000 orphaned children living in Guatemala.

It is both our great responsibility and great joy to be the hands and feet of Christ by caring for the hungry and the orphaned. Your gracious sponsorship ensures that children are not left without food in their stomachs–or hope in their hearts.

“Give justice to the weak and the fatherless; maintain the right of the afflicted and the destitute.” (Psalm 82:3, ESV)

Visiting Your Child

Though not always possible, it is our hope that many of our sponsors will consider traveling and meeting their sponsored child in person. It is humbling to witness their gratitude, and it is truly a life-changing experience–for your child and for you.

Something changes when you are able to see their face in person for the first time and give them a warm embrace. The relationship between sponsors and children is a peek into the heart of Christ and His love for the least of these. Even if you are not able to visit in person, seeing your child’s picture and praying for them regularly makes your impact real and deep.

“Continue steadfastly in prayer, being watchful in it with thanksgiving.” (Colossians 4:2, ESV)

Being the Love of Christ, Both Near and Far

Christian child sponsorship seeks to meet physical needs, but even more so, it is the ministry of softening and changing hearts.

Would you please consider joining us to spread the hope of Christ and becoming a sponsor today? Your gift makes it possible for deep, lasting relationships to flourish. Through the precious relationship between sponsors and children, we behold the love of Christ for us and for our neighbor–both near and far.
