That’s why our Missionary Internship Program is one of the most important investments we make.
Every year, young believers step away from the familiar comforts of home and immerse themselves in ministry. Time spent in our program is one of intentional discipleship and personal growth. Not only do interns gain valuable experience, they also discover God’s calling for their lives, develop practical skills for future ministry, and learn to model their lives after the selfless service of Jesus.
Many future missionaries and ministry leaders begin their journey through opportunities like these.
One Year of Growth, A Lifetime of Impact
One of those young leaders is Jake Collier.
Jake arrived in Guatemala last July with a desire to serve God and pour into his faith. Over the past year, he has become an essential member of the Living Water ministry team.
Jake is on fire for God, and that is evident from his willingness to jump in wherever he is needed. Whether it’s leading worship, translating during sponsor visits, assisting with construction projects, or encouraging families in some of Guatemala’s most vulnerable communities, he brings a willing and humble spirit to every task he undertakes.
His eagerness to serve has enabled him to make an incredible impact while also developing real skills he will need for the path of ministry ahead. Beyond the practical, it has cultivated something deeper and more important: undeniable character and spiritual maturity.

Because of his heart for serving, Jake has expressed a desire to return for a second year of ministry.
Why Missionary Internships Matter
Missionary internships are not simply volunteer opportunities: they are training grounds for future Kingdom leaders.
Through internships, men and women learn to:

- Lead worship and discipleship efforts within those communities.

Many churches are able to support interns from their congregations, but not every intern has that opportunity. Some, like Jake, personally cover most of their own ministry expenses in order to serve.
Without financial support, gifted young leaders may miss opportunities to continue developing the calling God has placed on their lives.
Investing in Generational Change
Rather than funding a single individual, Living Water Adopt-A-Child is establishing a Missionary Internship Program fundraiser that will support current and future interns serving with the ministry.
Donations to this fund help cover:
- Room and board
- Ministry training and discipleship
- Transportation and travel expenses
- Necessary materials for ministry efforts
- Opportunities for interns to continue serving where God has called them
As needs arise, these funds will be directed to the interns who need support the most, ensuring that financial limitations are never the reason for stopping young men and women from pursuing God’s calling to ministry.
