A Sustainable, Purposeful Blessing to Guatemalans in Need
In 2017, Living Water Adopt-A-Child (LWAAC) International Director Steve McDaniel stared out into the hills and fields of Quiche. He had a vision: to begin better stewarding the land and natural resources we possess in Guatemala.
He wanted to use ministry property to raise crops, poultry and livestock for the betterment of our mission communities.
The vision became the Blessing Fields Project.
Today, the project fruitfully provides nutritious food for our Feeding Programs.
The Blessing Fields:
- Supply produce that can be donated to local families
- Grow feed for our cows and food that can be sold in local markets for reinvestment in the ministry.
- Support over 100 chickens and dozens of turkeys for eggs and poultry given to the poor.
In short, the blessing is multiplying, and impoverished Guatemalan families are reaping a beautiful harvest.
The blessing multiplies
Nutritious. Sustainable. Purposeful.
How the Blessing Fields Project Impacts Lives in Guatemala Every Day
Nutrition
The Blessing Fields provide nutritious food for our Feeding Programs. The crops also provide feed for our cows and the produce is often donated to local families. Additionally, our chickens produce 8-12 dozen free-range eggs daily for the ministry and families in need.
Sustainability
Not only does selling the Blessing Fields bounty sustain and grow the project itself, but we also actively seek to give impoverished families their own chickens as a sustainable food and income resource. We build the chicken coops and provide them with laying hens and feed to get started.
Hope
Because of the Blessing Fields, we were able to hire a former sponsored child, now a young man, to help us full-time with the Blessing Fields Project. Eduardo is deaf and mute and had been unable to gain employment. The Blessing Fields now provide for him too.
